Veteran player, now competing in the VLTA National Championships at
Wimbledon, has recently won another title in the DOE SPORT Bearsden Summer
Series Tournament in Glasgow, her 5th title in this event, showing excellent
form ahead of the National event. Jordan Gray won the Men's event for
the 4th time. Les Maclean. DOE SPORT (NORTH) director, pictured bottom row
left with Christine next to him and Jordan bottom right, said after the
finals on Sunday 10 August - "DOE are delighted to be celebrating
Christine's 5th win and Jordan's 4th during the 14 years that Bearsden have
been holding this event and, at the same time, celebrating our 5th
successive year of sponsoring this well established ratings
tournament". The tournament, held in brilliant sunshine, was played on
DOE'S CASOLON synthetic grass carpet a popular and successful DOE surface
for 20 years. The oldest CASOLON courts installed by DOE and still in play are a block of 3
at Beechwood LTC in Coventry laid 16 years ago and now due to be resurfaced by
DOE in September 2003.
